Contador confirms that he will not defend his champion's degree

The Spanish cyclist Alberto Contador confirmed that in 2010 he will not defend the champion's degree of the Italy Draft that won this year.
“After winning this year the Draft and the Return, I will return to the Tour and try to win it", told Contador in declarations appeared in the web page "cyclingnews.com".
“I will not take part in the Draft ". “This year I did it, but I had more problems to recover at the end of season ", made clear the cyclist of 27 years, winner of the Tour de France of 2007.
The cyclist will plan his season based only on the dispute of the Tour. In this way, the American Lance Armstrong, seven times winner of the Tour, will be the captain of the team Astana in the Draft 2010.

Eddy Merckx affirms that Armstrong will not traverse the Tour for moral reasons (with regard to Contador)

The ex-cyclist Eddy Merckx, friend of Lance Armstrong, believes that the American cyclistr will not take part in the next edition of the Tour of France, between other motives for moral reasons " with regard to Contador", according to a few declarations gathered by the Belgian diary " Le Soir ".
Merckx proved to be sure “that Armstrong will not traverse the Tour " after supporting a telephonic conversation with the American, in which this one said to him " that some day he would explain the motives to him for his return " to the competition.
According to the Belgian, winner of the Tour of France in five occasions, Armstrong will not take part in the French round of 2010 " for many reasons ", the principal one is " the delicate relation that he has with France and with the French press ".
The second reason is "of moral character with regard to Contador", a member of his team in Astana, Merckx declared.
Likewise, he affirmed that “also sports reasons exist, since to take part in the Draft with 37 years after a stop of 3 years is already slightly enormous ".
The ex-cyclist added that, in his opinion, “the leaders of the Tour have not seen with good eyes Armstrong's return in a 'hypermediatized' proof ".
